Get the right canvas for your art with Custom Canvas

Create Custom Canvas

With our newest Custom Canvas feature for, available on Sketch Desk, you can find the canvas that best suits your artistic vision and style, by choosing from a range of standard digital and print canvases, or by creating your very own. 

Let's find out how to create a custom canvas. To open the Custom Canvas feature,

1. Open Sketch Desk
2. Select “Blank Canvas”  in the pop-up window that appears
3. Then click the “Start” button. 

If you are already on Sketch Desk and wish to customize your canvas for a new drawing, click on the New Page icon on the top left, and select “Custom Canvas”.

The Custom Canvas window that appears, gives you seven different types of digital canvas to choose from, available under the ‘Digital’ tab. The digital canvas options available are,

• Square (2100 x 2100 px)
• Current screen size (2048 x 1536 px)
• Standard Screen (1024 x 768 px)
• Standard HD (1280 x 720 px)
• Full HD (1920 x 1080 px)
• Standard Screen (2100 x 2100 px)
• Web Illustration (1536 x 700 px)

If you wish to work with print type canvases, select the ‘Print’ tab at the top to view the 9 options which include,

• Letter (816 x 1056 px)
• Small Postcard (576 x 408 px)
• Large Postcard (672 x 480 px)
• Comic book (636 x 972 px)
• A4 (794 x 1123 px)
• Tabloid (1056 x 1632 px)
• Poster (1728 x 2304 px)
• A3 (1123 x 1588 px)
• A2 (1588 x 2245 px) 

All you need to do is select the canvas option you want, to begin using it.

If you don’t see what you’re looking for in our list of available canvases, you can always create the canvas you need.

To customize your own canvas size,

1. Change the Width and Height values shown on the right
2. Select the background for your canvas from the available drop down menu
3. Then select the “Create” option. 

To save your customized canvas, select the “Save this Size” option, and type in a name for your canvas. You can view your saved customized canvases by selecting the ‘Saved’ tab at the top of the Custom Canvas window.
